Topic: Disaster/Risk Management

Natural disasters seem to have become an inevitable part of farming. FLAG attorneys have authored comprehensive resources for farmers who need to recover from natural disasters. We also help farmers manage their risk so they are better prepared when disaster hits. FLAG’s services have included:

  • Providing training to farmers and farm advocates regarding USDA disaster programs
  • Providing advice to farmers and farm advocates trying to navigate the various disaster programs
  • Technical assistance for farmers to help them understand the record keeping required to access risk management and disaster programs
  • Advocacy when farmers are not getting the benefits to which they are entitled
