Get Ready to Give to the Max on Nov. 13!

Posted on November 6, 2014

We at FLAG know you are committed to building a sustainable local foods system, and that you already understand that many family farmers need support. What you may not have considered are the complex legal needs these farmers have, and how difficult it can be for them to access legal services. Running a farm involves wide-ranging legal issues − from land leases to licensing to understanding the regulations governing credit and disaster programs − and these issues can be especially overwhelming for beginning, immigrant, sustainable, or any small-scale family farmers.

For almost 30 years, FLAG has made these issues our priority, so family farmers can focus on what they do best: growing healthy food for our communities. We not only provide legal services to individual farmers, we also advocate for family farmers at the local and national levels. No other organization knows these legal issues better than FLAG does, and no other lawyers will do this top-quality work for free.

With this year’s Give to the Max Day approaching on Thursday, Nov. 13, we are asking for your support to keep legal services available − at no charge − to the small-scale farmers who feed our communities.

Even better: Your gift on November 13 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by our Board of Directors as part of their $2,000 Match Challenge. And if you know you are going to be busy on November 13, you can schedule your gift now. Just CLICK HERE to schedule your gift.

On behalf of FLAG’s staff and board members, thank you for your dedication to transforming our food system!
